Boys & Girls Clubs expand after-school access in Paso Robles

Boys & Girls Clubs fill gap from reduced bussing services

    – Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast and Paso Robles Joint Unified School District have entered into a three-year agreement to expand after-school programming at the Tom Maas Clubhouse. The partnership will continue to provide safe, affordable, and structured programs to children and families across Paso Robles after the school day ends.

In response to reduced bussing services by the school district, Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast will provide transportation for club members from all elementary and middle schools in the district. These include Georgia Brown, Winifred Pifer, Kermit King, Virginia Peterson, Glen Speck, and Lewis Flamson Junior High. The new transportation services aim to ensure working families do not face barriers to participation.

The organization will subsidize the added transportation costs, taking on a $200,000 expense, which represents a 30 percent increase in overall transportation spending.

“This is more than a service agreement—it’s a shared vision for youth success,” said Maria Fabula, chief executive officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast. “Together with the school district, we’re removing barriers, expanding opportunity, and building a stronger community.”

The organization encourages continued community support through collaboration, investment, or advocacy to help ensure all children in Paso Robles have access to after-school services.

Founded in 1966, Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast serves children from transitional kindergarten through age 18. The organization offers after-school tutoring, mentoring, and health-related activities at 10 sites across Atascadero, Creston, Guadalupe, Paso Robles, Santa Maria, and Shandon.
