Brian Myracle dies at 63

Brian Myracle.

Brian Myracle.

–Brian Myracle, who loved making others laugh and loved his family above all else, passed away in Atascadero on June 18, 2016 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 63.

Myracle, of Atascadero, was born in 1953 to Glenn T. and Mabel Myracle, who provided Brian and his two sisters, Laurie and Toli, with an active and loving childhood. Brian, who was born in Orange but grew up in Santa Ana, was athletic and excelled in numerous sports, especially football, which he played from Pop Warner days through college. A 1971 graduate of Santa Ana’s Saddleback High, Brian attended Whittier College and later transferred to Oregon State on a football scholarship.

In 1982 he met and married the love of his life, Anita Robinson Myracle. They enjoyed 33 wonderful years of marriage and raised their son Brennan Myracle in Atascadero.

Brian spent most of his professional career working for Chevron U.S.A., rising to offshore platform operator before his early retirement in 2001. He followed Chevron with posts at several Central Coast firms before his final retirement in 2013.

Brian enjoyed working closely with his dear friends in the Atascadero Kiwanis Club and devoted many volunteer hours in community work, including serving as president in 2009. Personable and always looking for an opportunity to make someone laugh and feel special, Brian was uncanny at remembering everyone’s name.

Brian’s greatest love was his family. To his young grandsons Coen and Hunter Myracle, he was the perfect “Papa.” They will miss Pizza Wednesday and many other fun Papa traditions.

Brian is predeceased by his parents Glenn T. and Mabel Myracle, and an aunt, Georgia Prebble.

Brian is survived by his wife Anita Robinson Myracle; son Brennan Myracle and daughter-in-law Jessica Myracle; two grandsons Coen and Hunter Myracle; sisters Laurie Myracle and Toli Walling, and cousin John Evans along with many nieces and nephews.

In Brian’s honor, the Atascadero Kiwanis Club has established the Brian Myracle Memorial Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be made directly to Atascadero Kiwanis, P.O. Box 370, Atascadero, CA 93422.
