Bronco returns to Vina Robles for October concert

    Tickets go on sale Friday

    – Regional Mexican band Bronco will perform at Vina Robles Amphitheatre on Oct. 25 as part of their Dejando Huella Tour. The tour began earlier this year at the Bésame Mucho Festival in Austin, Texas, and is scheduled to conclude in San Diego in November.

Tickets go on sale Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.

Originating from Apodaca, Mexico, Bronco gained popularity in the 1980s and 1990s with a modern interpretation of regional Mexican music. Band members José Guadalupe Esparza, Ramiro Delgado, Javier Villarreal and José Luis “Choche” Villarreal combined traditional norteño sounds, such as accordion and bajo sexto, with pop and modern instruments, including the keyboard.

Bronco’s debut album, Te Quiero Cada Día Más, was released in 1980. Their 1989 album, A Todo Galope, earned international attention and led to a tour that included stops in the United States, Puerto Rico, Spain, Argentina, Venezuela, and Peru.

In 1990, Bronco appeared in Bronco La Película and in 1993, provided the theme song and starred in the Televisa soap opera Dos Mujeres, un Camino alongside Erik Estrada. The band released La Última Huella in 1997 as a farewell album following Esparza’s announcement of a solo career, but the group later reunited in 2003 under the name El Gigante de America due to a copyright dispute in Mexico.

The 2004 album Sin Riendas reached No. 1 on both the Latin Albums and Mexican Regional Albums charts. In 2017, the group regained the legal right to use the name Bronco in Mexico.

Bronco has released dozens of albums, sold more than 12 million copies, and placed 16 albums in the Top 10 on the Mexican Regional Albums chart. Beyond music, the band has also been involved in branded products, including a comic strip, cartoon, boots, perfume, and clothing.
