Brush pile burning scheduled

Smoke may be visible in the immediate vicinity throughout the dayprescribed burn SLO county

–On Thursday, April 14, Cal Fire crews will conduct pile burning of hazardous vegetation in the Parkhill area of Santa Margarita. The project location is just south of Parkhill Road mid-way between Little Quail Road and Stagecoach Canyon Road. This burn is part of a multi-year fire hazard abatement project sponsored by the San Luis Obispo County Fire Safe Council to create a series of fuel breaks in the general Parkhill area designed to reduce large damaging wildfires.

Smoke may be visible in the immediate vicinity throughout the day. The prescribed burn is being coordinated with the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District and the California Air Resources Board in order to minimize the smoke impacts on surrounding communities. The project is dependent on weather and will be carried out during favorable atmospheric conditions that provide adequate consumption and smoke dispersal. If the conditions are not correct on Thursday as planned, the burn will be rescheduled.
