–Last year the Paso Robles City Council asked staff to create a Building Liaison Group to improve collaboration and communication between city staff and the building industry. The group met five times last year and collaborated on improvements to the plan check process and formation of the Building Board of Appeals.

At last Thursday’s meeting the group was introduced to Charlie Moloney, the new deputy building official, reviewed last year’s progress and discussed goals for 2016. The group wants to continue to look for ways to expedite the plan check process, investigate possibilities for over-the-counter permits, clarify expectations for plan submittals and keep positive lines of communication open. The next group meeting will be March 10 at 10:30 a.m.
