By The People offers free legal document preparation for families impacted by shutdown
Office provides assistance to self-represented individuals statewide
– In response to the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on families who rely on EBT benefits, By The People will offer limited free legal document preparation throughout November for individuals seeking child support, alimony or other family-related financial court orders.
The program is intended to support parents facing financial hardship as federal assistance delays affect their ability to meet basic needs.
“No parent should have to choose between groceries and court filing fees,” said a representative from the office. “We want to help families stabilize through access to justice, not just food.”
In addition to free document preparation, By The People will host a community food drive at its Arroyo Grande office, located at 556 Camino Mercado on the lower level of the Oak Park Professional Centre, on Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations of nonperishable food items are encouraged.
Food will be distributed at the same location on Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., while supplies last.
By The People is a registered legal document preparation service that assists self-represented individuals with paperwork for family law, estate planning and business matters. With offices in Paso Robles and Arroyo Grande, the company serves clients across California in person and remotely.
