By the Sea Productions to present staged reading of ‘Other Desert Cities’
– By the Sea Productions in Morro Bay will present a staged reading of “Other Desert Cities” by Jon Robin Baitz during a one-weekend run, March 20–22.
Set in Palm Springs in 2004, the play centers on the wealthy, politically conservative Wyeth family. The family’s calm is disrupted when their daughter, a successful writer, announces her upcoming memoir that revisits a long-buried family tragedy. As debates over truth, loyalty, and memory unfold, family members confront grief, love, and the effects of keeping secrets.
Lisa Woske directs the staged reading. The cast includes Jill Turnbow and Tom Ammon as the parents, Maya Lara and Tyler Wilson as their adult children, and Nicolette Tempesta as their aunt.
Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday at 545 Shasta Ave.
