Cal Fire plans pile burns near Creston next week
Burning should begin around 9 a.m. on April 8 and 9
– The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, in cooperation with the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department, the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District, and the San Luis Obispo County Community Fire Safe Council, plans to conduct pile burning near Creston next week as part of its Vegetation Management Program.
Officials said approximately 5 acres of vegetation piles will be burned.
The burns are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, through Wednesday, April 9, beginning around 9 a.m. each day.
Burning will take place on the Rocky Canyon Truck Trail off of Highway 229.
The prescribed burning aims to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires and promote ecological resilience and diversity in the area.
