– Cal Poly’s Office of Research announced 17 awards for the 2026-27 Research, Scholarly and Creative Activities (RSCA) grant program cycle. Over $305,000 has been awarded to the selected projects.
Supported by funds from the California State University (CSU) Chancellor’s Office and Cal Poly’s Office of the Provost, the RSCA grant program supports faculty in contributing new knowledge through robust programs of scholarship focused on strengthening California’s social, cultural, and economic landscape. This program is one mechanism by which Cal Poly supports the Teacher-Scholar Model, in which faculty integrate excellence in teaching with research, scholarly, and creative activities. The 2026-27 awarded projects are listed on Cal Poly’s Office of Research website.
“The RSCA competition demonstrates the remarkable depth and relevance of our scholarly work at Cal Poly,” said Dean Wendt, Cal Poly’s interim associate vice provost of research. “These projects exemplify how rigorous research and creative activity can address real-world challenges, strengthen our communities, provide rich learning opportunities for our students, and extend the reach and impact of our expertise beyond the university.”
Proposals were selected using the criteria outlined in the RSCA Request for Proposals and guided by the review and rankings of the Academic Senate Grants Review Committee and the Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities Committee.
“The RSCA program continues to receive competitive proposals from all facets of campus, which is a great demonstration of the faculty’s commitment to research and the involvement of students in meaningful experiences,” said Philip Costanzo, chair of the Grants Review Committee of the Cal Poly Academic Senate. “Cal Poly’s research program continues to grow and thrive.”
Since its inception in 2014-15, the RSCA program at Cal Poly has provided over $4 million in grants to faculty members.
