    California Coast Classic bike ride to pass through SLO County 

    California Coast Classic bike rider to pass through SLO County

    – The California Coast Classic Bike Tour will return to the Central Coast with 200 riders traveling from San Francisco to Los Angeles between Sept. 6 and Sept. 13.

    Cyclists will ride along Highway 1 daily from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The route includes:

    • Saturday, Sept. 6: San Francisco to Santa Cruz
    • Sunday, Sept. 7: Santa Cruz to Monterey
    • Monday, Sept. 8: Monterey to Big Sur
    • Tuesday, Sept. 9: Paso Robles to Cambria via Highway 46 and San Luis Obispo County roads
    • Wednesday, Sept. 10: Cambria to Oceano
    • Thursday, Sept. 11: Oceano to Buellton
    • Friday, Sept. 12: Buellton to Ventura

     

    The tour will conclude on Saturday, Sept. 13, with a ride from Ventura to Santa Monica.

    The California Highway Patrol will be present to help ensure safety for cyclists, motorists, and support crews. Cyclists will ride single file and follow traffic laws. Motorists are urged to stay alert and share the road. Caltrans reminds drivers to slow down and move over in highway construction zones.

    Stay vigilant on our narrow roads, particularly where there are blind curves.
    It’s astounding how many cyclists ride two or three abreast, unconcerned about vehicles behind them!
