CaliPaso Winery offers visitors a snapshot of Tuscany

From the San Luis Obispo County Visitor’s Guide

CaliPaso Winery

-Even though Italy is over 6000 miles from Paso Robles, you can experience a taste of Tuscany right here at CaliPaso Winery. The sweeping location boasts a picturesque wedding venue, elegant rooms in the villa, delightful tasting experiences and much more.

The Villa
The CaliPaso Inn offers seven rooms with amenities such as fireplaces, elegant Italian inspired decor and private balconies so that guests can watch the stunning Paso Robles sunset over the rolling vineyards in comfort. Also available is “The Winemaker’s Cottage” suite, covering 1500 square feet with imported European furniture, a dining room that seats ten guests, an expansive kitchen and two guestrooms with king sized beds. “It’s a little oasis… you feel like you’re stepping into Tuscany,” said Chief Operating Officer Jaime Glenn, who adds that the villa aspect of the winery is one the neatest additions.

Events
The winery hosts around 20 weddings annually. An indoor ceremony holds 75 guests, while an outside ceremony and reception can sustain a maximum of 300 guests. The venue supplies food and beverages, along with comfortable rooms for the bride and groom to ready themselves in while guests explore the beautiful grounds. Along with these glamorous events, the venue also offers to host birthdays, Chamber of Commerce meetings and is looking to start a concert series next year. “[We] put customers first and make sure they have an amazing experience,” said Glenn.

Tasting Experience
If you are looking to try CaliPaso’s renowned 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon or Zinfandel, guests can now visit their new tasting room location at 809 13th Street, across from Fish Gaucho. The room is open seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. from Thursday to Saturday based on customer response. Tasting usually concludes at 7:30 the other days. A bonus to guests staying at the villa is free tastings at the room, while club members receive a discount. These high quality wines are also affordable, ranging from under $30 to $45. The wines made and offered are of the highest caliber; Alan Kinne, highly regarded as an award-winning figure in the wine industry, has been the Director of Winemaking since 2013. As a consultant, Alan was awarded the US Winemaker of the Year and was a runner up another year. His career, spanning over 30 years, brings prominence to CaliPaso’s wines.

For a fun day tasting wine and admiring the beauty of the winery, head over to the tasting room or the Winery for your snapshot of Italy.
