– Adelita “Lita” Hiteshew has announced her candidacy for the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees, representing Area 6.
Hiteshew has lived in Paso Robles for over 28 years and has spent much of her time working with children in the community. She has worked in preschools, operated an in-home daycare, and served as a kindergarten paraeducator in the district. She currently serves as PTA president at Virginia Peterson Elementary, where she is involved in supporting students and families.
“My campaign focuses on community, collaboration, and commitment,” Hiteshew said. “I want to strengthen our schools by promoting early literacy, boosting academic achievement, and preparing students for life after high school. It’s vital that we all work together—teachers, parents, and administrators—to create a supportive, inclusive environment for every student.”
Hiteshew is also the mother of a student with a disability and is passionate about improving special education within the district. “I believe in advocating for every child’s right to a quality education and ensuring that those with disabilities are fully supported and celebrated for their unique abilities,” she said.
In addition to her focus on special education, Hiteshew emphasizes fiscal responsibility and the importance of enhancing extracurricular programs. She supports transparent communication and regular updates to keep the community informed about the district’s progress.
As a Bearcat alumna and mother of four, Hiteshew hopes to use her experience to help every student in the district thrive. “I’m excited to serve Area 6 and work with the community to make a positive impact on our schools,” she said. “Together, we can make a difference.”
