Candidate receives endorsements for Superior Court Judge

–Sitting Superior Court Commissioner Tim Covello continues to receive endorsements for his June 5 election bid to fill the Superior Court judicial seat being vacated by Judge Barry LaBarbera.

Covello recently received endorsements from:
· Arroyo Grande Police Officers Association
· Paso Robles Police Officers Association
· Pismo Beach Police Officers Association
· San Luis Obispo Police Staff Officers Association

These are in addition to endorsements from 12 of 13 judges on the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court bench, plus Court of Appeals Justice Martin J. Tangeman and eight retired judges.

“I’m honored to receive such votes of confidence from organizations and people that I’ve worked with for so many years,” Covello said. “I will work hard to live up to their faith in me.”

In addition, five Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judges have endorsed Covello, who served as a Chief Deputy District Attorney in the Santa Maria office before his appointment as Commissioner of the SLO County Superior Court.

Covello currently serves as Commissioner for the Superior Court. He’s presided over civil small claims, traffic, family treatment court, juvenile truancy and infractions, juvenile drug court, misdemeanor criminal matters and mentally disordered offender trials.

Prior to joining the court as Commissioner, he served 23 years as a prosecutor, including over 7 years as Chief Deputy District Attorney and Assistant District Attorney for the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office.

Voting by mail begins May 7 for the June 5 primary election.
