Humanity may be facing the worst of times, but they do say that these kinds of challenges can actually bring out the best in people. Whether you are a health care worker, an employee, a business owner, a government official, or just a regular individual doing the best that he can during one of the most uncertain times to ever affect civilians in this era, it’s a great time to be of service to your fellow man in the best way you can.

Kindness and compassion are probably one of the most in demand resources right now; it’s the currency of exchange in human connection. Even when an end is not anywhere in sight for the time being, seeing this kindness in abundant supply with corporations, individuals, and government workers is what restores hope for humanity.

There are many ways you can be caring toward others during the pandemic. Remembering how to be a good human being is tantamount in this hardship we are facing. Here are some things you can do, whether you are an institution, a household, or an individual.

  1. Care for yourself and your family.

Taking care of yourself is paramount – without any reserves to draw from, you will not be able to serve others. Make sure you are staying healthy, and are avoiding exposure by practicing safe social distancing measures. Of course, your whole family should be doing the same thing, since you are living in one household together.

Apart from the physiological aspect, you should be able to support each other emotionally as well. Everyone is going through a tough time psychologically, realizing that most of the things that came so easily before the pandemic hit come few and far between these days – simple things such as just being outdoors, spending time with friends, buying necessities, and the general freedom we all had. It is not easy to face all this, so be a source of strength and fortitude for your family members as well. Be as encouraging, kind, and understanding of them as you can be.

  1. Care for your employees.

If you are running a business, how you treat your employees at this time will say a lot about you as their boss. Make sure to extend as much financial support as you can, taking care of their needs when you can. Many restaurant owners are feeding meals to their staff, for example. If your business is still operating, ensure that you are implementing safety measures, employing a work from home arrangement, or utilizing a flexible office space in CA to meet their needs.

  1. Support your community’s frontliners.

Frontliners are probably the ones most at risk in this battle. Offer your support to them as much as you can. If you have family, friends, or loved ones who are working at hospitals, check in on them regularly even to just provide moral support. Donate to their causes and needs as much as you can, and rally your resources to protect their well-being as much as possible.

These are some key ways you can contribute to your community as we all face this difficult period. If we work together toward alleviating each other’s pain, and work to serve each other as much as possible; we can get out of this ordeal in one piece feeling thankful and even stronger as a community.
