Dip draws thousands of participants to ring in the new year

    – Thousands of participants gathered at Cayucos State Beach on Wednesday for the 45th annual Carlin Soulé Memorial Polar Bear Dip. The event, held each year at noon on New Year’s Day, drew individuals and teams eager to start the new year with a plunge into the Pacific Ocean.

Hosted by the Cayucos Chamber of Commerce in partnership with multiple county agencies, the family-friendly event featured a costume contest with prizes, music from a live DJ, and commemorative participant certificates. Commemorative t-shirts were also available, with proceeds helping to cover event costs and support other local Cayucos Chamber initiatives.

The event, a long-standing New Year’s Day tradition, continues to be a highlight for the community, welcoming participants of all ages and celebrating the start of a new year with a spirited plunge into the ocean.
