‘Celebrate America’ event to be hosted August 8
Event hosted by the Paso Robles Republican Women Federated
– The Paso Robles Republican Women Federated is holding its first ever “Celebrate America” event with a theme of “Showtime at the USO.” The event takes place Saturday, Aug. 8, from 5-9 p.m. at the Estrella Warbird Museum Hangar.
The event will be a “vintage extravaganza honoring our men and women in uniform and our beloved veterans,” according to a news release. Highlights include: Entertainment vignettes, Royal Garden Swing Orchestra performing swing favorites and current hits, food stations, tours of Estrella Warbird Museum and its extensive car and aircraft collections, and local wine and craft beers. The event will host a special guest, retired Army Sergeant Justin Bond, founder of Our Heroes Dreams.
Attendees will have a chance to purchase an opportunity to take a flight in the historic WWII Betsy’s Biscuit Bomber C47, flown by Sherman Smoot, during the event.
Proceeds benefit the programs, services, community outreach and scholarships of the federation, the Gooney Bird Group and Honor Flight Central Coast California, which sends local veterans to Washington DC to visit in particular the WWII Memorial.
The federation is seeking sponsors, underwriters and in-kind contributions. Sponsors will be given recognition at the event as well and will be listed in the program book, on the website, in radio ads and in any other promotions. Sponsorships are available at various levels and include complimentary tickets and reserved tables at the event. There will also be a silent auction; items can be donated for the auction.
Tickets can be purchased through the Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce at 1225 Park Street, (805) 238-0506, and online at www.brownpapertickets.com.
General admission is $45; veterans and military admission is $35. Admission limited to 21 years and over. For more information contact one of the co-chairs of the event, Teresa Sullenger, (661) 900-3635 or Sue Rodeck, (805) 878-3575.
