Celebrate Willy Wonka’s 50th anniversary at Powell’s Sweet Shoppe
Staff will hand out free candy Saturday to celebrate anniversary of Willy Wonka’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’s release
Come on out to Powell’s Sweet Shoppe in Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo this Saturday and join the staff as they celebrate the the 50th anniversary of the publishing of Roald Dahl’s “Willy Wonka’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” First released in1964, there were 10,000 copies of the book sold in the first week, with the New York Times calling it “sheer joy.”
“To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Powell’s will be handing out free Willy Wonka candy at both the Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo locations,” said Miranda Battenburg, owner and manager of both Powell’s Sweet Shoppe locations.
Stop by Saturday to indulge in the fun, sweet offerings at one or both of the Powell’s Willy Wonka themed-local candy stores. Adults and children are free to come in and enjoy watching the movie version of Willy Wonka’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory all day long and celebrate with the staff.
