Central Coast students receive California Legislative Caucus scholarships
Local lawmakers nominate students
– The California Legislative Central Coast Caucus Foundation announced the recipients of the 2025 Central Coast Impact Scholarship, which supports the educational aspirations of 18 students from Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.
“I am incredibly proud to announce our second round of Central Coast Impact Scholarship awardees,” said Assemblymember Dawn Addis, D-Morro Bay, chair of the foundation. “As a former teacher, I can see how amazing these students are and I cannot wait to see the impact they make. Supporting their academic journeys is an investment in their futures and the future of our entire Central Coast.”
In San Luis Obispo County, Delia “Ozzy” Pidd was nominated by Addis, Nigel Dowlan was nominated by State Senator Monique Limón, and Yahairi Nunez Ruiz was nominated by Laird.
In Santa Barbara County, Alexa Ceja Jaimes was nominated by Limón. Arianna Escamilla and Martin Diaz were nominated by Assemblymember Gregg Hart.
In Santa Cruz County, Alayna Gomez was nominated by Speaker Robert Rivas, while Alice Taylor and Mark Carmona-Cosme were nominated by Assemblymember Gail Pellerin.
In Monterey County, Diego Casapia was nominated by State Senator John Laird. Gina Guzman was nominated by Addis, and Olga Viramontes Zamora was nominated by Rivas.
In Ventura County, Alice Costa-Schmitt and Ashley Portillo were nominated by Assemblymember Steve Bennett. Jacob McDonough and Lola Forbes-Black were nominated by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin. Kristin Steiner and Rikka Tignac were nominated by State Senator Henry Stern.
The California Legislative Central Coast Caucus Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that fosters education on issues significant to Central Coast communities. The Central Coast Impact Scholarship program was created to provide financial assistance to students.
