Cuesta College invites lovers of literature to rejoice in the written word

– The 32nd annual Central Coast Writer’s Conference begins on Sept. 29  and ends on Oct. 1. Three days of learning, teaching and fun with composition will be had by writers, publishers, agents, illustrators and all others who wish to attend.

Sponsored by Cuesta College and SoCreate, the conference kicks off on Thursday Sept. 29 from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. with a free Book and Author’s Fair at Mission Plaza in downtown San Luis Obispo, then moves to host a variety of events at Cuesta College’s San Luis Obispo campus.

Over 85 classes and workshops make up the conference and over 60 presenters, panels, individual writing critiques, keynotes and craft lectures are featured. With a focus on Hollywood and TV/screenwriting, some of the industry’s best creators will be accessible to all attendees.

The panels consist of best selling authors, tv and movie writers, scriptwriters, illustrators, all the best in the country and some from other parts of the world.

“Our conference is cited as one of the best in the U.S. because no other conference has this much top talent in one place,” said Teri Bayus, conference director. “Plus the staff loves coming here so it is dynamic and fun. Whether you are a new writer or an established author, our conference will help elevate your writing to the next level and help you navigate through the business side of the industry.”

All K-12 teachers receive free registration thanks to the sponsorship of Chevron. A Teens Writers Workshop, sponsored by PG&E, will engage students in an interactive, team building environment. All interested may also enter to win a free conference admission at any San Luis Obispo County Library.

Admission is $225. A catered dinner is included in the admission price. Keynote events may be purchased individually, as can private critique sessions ($15-25) with award-winning talents such as Nancy Holder, Lawrence A. Levy (Seinfeld) and Ken Sherman, top Hollywood agent.

Pre-registration is required to enter the conference. There is free parking in Lot # 2. For a full list of programs and to register visit: www.centralcoastwritersconference.com.
