Child pulled from burning car, two injured after crash Sunday
– A traffic crash involving two vehicles injured multiple people and ignited a vegetation fire in northern San Luis Obispo County on Sunday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP received a report of the crash at 6:20 p.m. at the intersection of Creston Road and Neal Spring Road. The incident involved a Toyota Prius and a Nissan Pathfinder.
The Toyota was reported to be on fire, and a child was pulled from one of the vehicles at 6:22 p.m., according to a report by the San Luis Obispo Tribune. At the same time, a person was reportedly trapped inside the Nissan, which was not on fire.
At 6:31 p.m., the fire began spreading to nearby vegetation. Cal Fire responded to the scene at 6:37 p.m., according to a post on X. Crews stopped the fire’s forward progress at 6:39 p.m. and were working to assist victims out of the vehicles.
Cal Fire reported that one patient sustained major injuries and another had moderate injuries.
