Winery receives recognition at San Francisco Wine Competition and California State Fair

    – Cinquain Cellars announced that its 2011 “Haiku Red” Bordeaux blend has been awarded 97 points and given a double gold medal at the 2015 San Francisco International Wine Competition.Haiku red

Cinquain Cellars owner and winemaker, Dave Nagengast says, “In 2002, myself, my wife and our three young sons planted 10,000 grapevines on our land in the Northeast of Paso Robles’ Estrella region. My goal was to create world-class, 100 percent estate grown and bottled Bordeaux blends. And with this recognition, following our Best of Class win at the 2015 San Francisco Chronicle for our ‘Independence Red’ Bordeaux blend, I feel like we’re well on our way to achieving our goals and having some fun along the way.”

The blend blend comprised of 66 percent cabernet sauvignon, 17 percent merlot and 17 percent petit verdot. It is 100 percent estate-grown and bottled and aged in a variety of French, American and Hungarian oak.

The list price of the 2011 Haiku Red is $34. Cinquain Cellars Wine Club Members can purchase the wine for $17. There are 45 cases left. Email beth@cinquaincellars.com to purchase.

The winery also announced that its wines received three “Best of Class of Region” awards at the 2015 California State Fair Wine Competition.

The Cinquain Cellars 2011 Syrah was awarded 98 Points, a double gold medal, and also designated as the “Best Syrah in California.”

The 2011 Malbec was awarded “Best of Class of Region” for malbec, gold and 94 points, as well as the “Best Red” wine for the south Central Coast region – spanning from Paso Robles to Santa Barbara.

The 2011 Tempranillo also received the “Best of Class of Region” for tempranillo, a gold medal and 94 points.
