City begins Salinas River revegetation planting project
City to install native plants to offset fuel management impact
– The City of Paso Robles will conduct a revegetation planting project within the Salinas River corridor from April 14 through May 15 as part of a required environmental mitigation effort.
The project is intended to offset the impacts of fuel management activities and restore native habitat within the river ecosystem. It will include the installation of native trees, shrubs and grasses in select areas along the river.
Planting will take place along the River Walk Trail from 13th Street to Navajo Court. According to the city, the revegetation effort supports compliance with state and federal environmental regulations. The work is designed to aid the recovery of native plant communities, improve biodiversity and enhance the ecological resilience of the river corridor.
Temporary access limitations may be in place near active planting zones, but the River Walk Trail will remain open at all times. The city asks that the public avoid marked planting areas during the project.
