–The Paso Robles City Council voted unanimously Thursday night to continue for 45 days discussion of proposed parking regulations for downtown. Councilmen Fred Strong and Jim Reed will meet with members of Main Street to discuss objections that some members have to the proposed regulations. Some felt the new regulations would give the city manager too much power to impose timed parking. They also criticized the consultant’s parking plan, specifically, how the downtown business owners were interviewed.

The council also voted unanimously to approve the purchase of squad vehicle for the Paso Robles Fire Department. The vehicle will provide another vehicle for responding to medical emergencies, which will free up a fire engine. Chief Jonathon Stornetta told the council he located a demonstration vehicle with only 1,200 miles on it that is for sale at a savings of $85,000. The council unanimously approved the purchase.

The meeting was held at the Emergency Operation Center because another event was scheduled at the Library Conference Room. The council postponed Tuesday’s meeting because of Labor Day.
