City council to discuss competing bids for Paso Robles airport leasehold

Grant to fund main runway rehabilitation at Paso Robles airport

Council meeting to be held tonight at 6:30

    – The full proposal for a competing bid to ACI Jet for the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) leasehold at Paso Robles Airport has been made public for the first time in nearly a year since its original submission. The complete document, along with all supplemental materials, letters of support, and other exchanges, is included as an attachment in the Paso Robles City Council meeting agenda posted for the upcoming meeting at Paso Robles City Hall today, Tuesday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m.

The proposals differ significantly in investment amounts and lease lengths. The competing proposal offers approximately half the capital investment of ACI Jet’s proposal ($8.9 million vs. $17.6 million) while requesting a longer total lease period of 45 years versus ACI Jet’s 40 years. All proposed capital improvements will become the property of the city at the end of the lease term.

The recommended action is to enter into negotiations with Loyd’s Aviation, the Bakersfield company proposing the lower amount of capital investment.

The full proposals and supplemental responses can be viewed on ACI Jet’s “Pairs Well with Paso” information site (paso.acijet.com). This site features a comprehensive line-by-line comparison of the offers and an analysis of the potential impact on Paso Robles. The site also provides a link to the city’s agenda, including public comments, letters of support, and other related information.

ACI Jet has advocated for increased public visibility into this decision, which will significantly impact the economic viability and profitability of one of the city’s most valuable assets.
