City hosting college and career readiness class for students
Get help defining interests, choosing a major & more
Eighty percent of college students change their major at least once and more than seventy percent of Americans are dissatisfied and disengaged with their jobs. Jamie Beck’s Being Deliberate workshop through Paso Robles Recreation Services is designed for high school juniors and seniors, foster care youth, incoming college freshmen, transfer students, and the parents, teachers, counselors, and staff who support them. During this workshop, participants will:
• Determine interest & explore their passions
• Begin to choose a college by researching options and deciding on a major
• Learn how to make the most of classes
• Redefine work connotations
• Learn how to find part-time jobs and internships
• Learn how to build a resume from nothing
Being Deliberate is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26 from 6-8:30 pm at Centennial Park in the White Oak Room at 600 Nickerson Drive. The cost of the class is $27 and scholarships are available for those who qualify. Two parents, teachers, counselors or guardians are invited to attend this class free of charge with a registered teen or college student participant. Adults may attend alone, but must register.
