College Works Painting appoints Paso Robles corporate representative

Joshua Malone.

–College Works Painting has announced the appointment of Joshua Malone as a corporate representative in Paso Robles.

Malone is a junior at Cal Poly, majoring in Agricultural Business. He is 22 years old and a native of Oroville, California. He transferred to Cal Poly in September and maintains above a 3.0 grade point average. In addition to carrying a full class schedule at Cal Poly and his responsibilities with College Works, Malone is also working part time at Dick’s Sporting Goods in San Luis Obispo.

College Works Painting allows Malone to continue his education while developing sales and leadership skills he will use later in life. Malone says he believes in giving back to his community, serving as a volunteer Junior Varsity baseball coach before transferring to Cal Poly.

Malone was one of 12 interns from Cal Poly hired to manage a team of painters, marketers and other employees operating in the Pacific Central Coast. The company provides interns with painting supplies, a budget and extensive mentoring, then allows the student to assume responsibility for building revenue, controlling costs and maintaining all other aspects of the business.

Following an intense training session in southern California last month, he is building his painting business by going door-to-door in Paso Robles neighborhoods. “Door to door selling is challenging at times but I have met some really great people along the way. I have made some terrific contacts as well as completed a number of painting estimates” Malone said. “I am excited to prove to clients I am the right man for the job.”

College Works Painting is a Better Business Bureau Accredited Business and has been recognized by The Princeton Review, The Orange County Register and Inc. Web Awards among others.

Malone said “a recent Consumer Reports study indicates a newly painted house can increase the market value by as much as 5-percent, not to mention the added curb appeal.” Malone said he is building his business on a modern-day version of The Golden Rule he likes to call “The Costco Index.” Stated simply, Malone says “Some Saturday morning I am going to bump into one of my clients at Costco and I want to be sure we are both glad to see one another.”

“I want to be sure your job is done professionally, correctly and on schedule, because 90% of a great painting job has nothing to do with the paint” Malone said.

Malone is available at (530) 282-6933, or jmalom32@collegeworks.com.
