Column: The Alchemist’s Garden is a gastronomic ‘wow’
Indulge in excellence at The Alchemist’s Garden
– The Alchemist’s Garden has been open for five years, and yes, with all my trips to Paso, I am somewhat embarrassed that I have never been here until now. Alchemist’s is a food and creative craft drink destination you must visit!
In ancient history, an alchemist turned metal into gold, creating something special from something ordinary. Well, Alexandra Pellot, her husband Andrew, and partners have done just that!
Alchemist’s Garden is truly a one-of-a-kind spot to enjoy wine, dine, drink, and socialize. Upon entering, you immediately feel you’re about to embark on a special experience. The vibrant, artistically designed menu enhances this feeling, promising a delightful treat. The menu provides a visual vibe, inviting you to explore eclectic craft cocktails, inventive dishes with flavors that tempt and tease your palate, and desserts that are famously irresistible. Every item, whether liquid or solid, is carefully crafted to excite your senses.
In the main room, the walls are beautifully decorated with a variety of plants, simply bringing the outdoors inside. Then there is the bar area and front-facing patio.
Everyone in our group ordered different entrees and was thoroughly satisfied! We shared some dishes, like the “bunch of fries” for the table and grilled Brussels sprouts. We also had a plate of delectable Pacific Gold Oysters on the half-shell. The oysters, locally and sustainably farmed by the Morro Bay Oyster Company, were prepared by chef Andrew Brune, with passion fruit foam, having a sweetness that made these almost feel like dessert starters. When on the menu, these are a must!
My main was the Harissa chard prawns — and I’m already looking forward to a return visit. Other entrees included salmon and a mouthwatering vegetable pesto lasagna.
Moving on to dessert, we shared several options, including (but not limited to) panna cotta, a Brûléed Banana Split, and seasonal cheesecake. The desserts were spectacular, both in presentation and flavor. Choosing a favorite among them would be like picking your favorite child out of five—oops, yes, we couldn’t resist— we did share five desserts.
There are always special things to look forward to, including food and drinks, and the menu changes regularly, so you’ll have a diverse dining experience each time.
Alchemist’s Garden offers a truly enchanting experience. It captures the true spirit and essence of alchemy, standing out as an innovative and exceptional dining spot that checks every box. Drinks, food, creativity, venue, atmosphere, art, laughter, fun, friendship—and most importantly: hospitality!
