Community Foundation of San Luis Obispo County adds new board member

The Community Foundation of San Luis Obispo County announced the election of Sandy Dunn, a community member and local leader, to serve on the Foundation’s Board of Directors. “I feel so fortunate to join such a committed group of individuals advancing the important work to help support charitable organizations throughout our county,” said Sandy Dunn.

“We are honored to welcome Sandy onto our Board of Directors,” said Heidi McPherson, CEO of The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County. “Sandy has been such an extraordinary leader for our County and we are grateful for her guidance and leadership.”

Dunn, who lives with her husband, John, in Avila Beach. has served the community with organizations including the University of California, Santa Barbara, the Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce, the Paso Robles Rotary Club, the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce, the San Luis Obispo Women’s Shelter Program, Festival Mozaic, the San Luis Obispo Symphony, the French Hospital Medical Center, and the Hearst Cancer Resource Center. Dunn has also won many community awards, including the Symphony Honors Award presented by the San Luis Obispo Symphony as well as the California Symphony VIP Award, the French Hospital’s Lou Tedone Humanitarian Award in 2013, and the annual Barbara George Philanthropy Award in 2009 presented at the San Luis Obispo Women of Distinction Award Ceremony.

The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County is a grantmaking and education foundation supporting charitable work across our county. Last year, the Foundation awarded over $2 million in grants and scholarships, and since 1998, the Foundation has supported our county with grants and scholarships totaling more than $28 million. The Foundation’s assets under management have grown to more than $55 million and provide support to all aspects of our community in perpetuity.
