Community garage sale raises money for charity
–Preceptor Nu Rho, a local Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, held a garage sale recently to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis, Kidney research, Scleroderma and Lupus.
They donated $2,601.91 that was split four ways between Cystic Fibrosis, Kidney research, Scleroderma, and Lupus. The funds were raised from garage sale proceeds and craft sales. The presentation was held in March at a luncheon which included several chapters in the area
Beta Sigma Phi is the largest women’s organization of its kind in the world, with more than 150,000 members in more than 10 countries. It has been recognized internationally for its philanthropic work.
Founded in 1931 in the midst of the Depression it was originally designed to provide an outlet for women, who, in hard financial times, could not attend college and were obligated to stay home and support their families.
