Community to celebrate annual ‘Hanukkah Downtown’

–The JCC-Federation of San Luis Obispo will host its annual Hanukkah Downtown celebration starting on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 5pm through Sunday, December 9. The first night includes a free community party in the plaza sponsored by the JCC-Federation of SLO and Downtown SLO.

This year’s holiday celebration comes at a time where communities across the world feel a strong need to come together, and stand up with their Jewish neighbors, family, and friends. The celebration will includes festive traditions like dreidel spinning, menorah making, and cookie decorating. This year they will add a message board and invite the SLO community to send its Hanukkah greetings and thoughtful expressions to the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.

The first night will feature the first candlelighting ceremony, games, crafts, sweet treats, the carousel, and being together. Candlelighting continues through the eight nights of Hanukkah until December 9. All nights begin at 5 p.m., except Saturday night at 5:30 p.m.

The JCC-Federation thanks the residents of San Luis Obispo County and the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa for their continued support in this ecumenical event. For more information go to www.jccslo.com/hannukah.
