Construction at dog park closes ‘big dog’ area through May 16

-Special from the Soaring Eagle Press-

Small dog area to remain open for all dogs

dog-parkOn Wednesday, a construction project started at Templeton’s Vineyard Dog Park to replace entrance steps with concrete and build a double gate entrance to connect the big and small dog areas. As a result, the big dog area at the park will be closed from May 8-16.

“These improvements are designed to increase safety in the park for both dogs and people,” wrote Paula O’Farrell of Parks4Pups. “To allow the concrete to set properly, and provide laborers with a safe work area, we need to close the big do area from May 8-16.”

The small dog area will remain open for all dogs. Please look for the posted signs that indicate which entrance to use.

According to O’Farrell, the Dog Park has some volunteers who will guard the entrances during the critical set up period to prevent vandalism, but more are needed. Potential volunteers are encouraged to contact O’Farrell at 239-4437 or email her at ofarrell@tcsn.net.

“This might be a great time to visit our other North County Dog Parks, specifically Sherwood Dog Park in Paso Robles and Heilmann Dog Park in Atascadero,” concluded
O’Farrell. “We apologize for the inconvenience but we’re certain that the end result will be worth it.”
