Council approves roof construction at airport terminal restaurant

Airport Terminal patio paso robles–Tuesday night, the Paso Robles City Council unanimously approved spending $182,346 to construct a roof over a patio at the Paso Robles Airport Terminal. The patio provides outside seating for Joe’s One Niner Diner, which leases space in the terminal. Joe’s One Niner Diner serves breakfast and lunch seven days a week. “One Niner” is the name pilots use for the runway at the Paso Robles Airport.

Owner Joe Ontiveros says he’s anxious to see the roof. “We’ve been discussing the project with the city of Paso Robles for months.” Ontiveros owns two other Joe’s Place restaurants. One is in Templeton; the other is on Spring Street in Paso Robles.

Miranda Thomas, one of the servers at Joe’s One Niner Diner, says the restaurant affords patrons a pleasant view of planes arriving and departing. “We get our fair share of celebrities coming and going, particularly when there are concerts at Vina Robles or the Mid-State Fair.”

The Paso Robles City Council voted Tuesday to authorize City Manager Tom Frutchey to enter into a contract with BC Construction and Electric. Work is expected to begin in the next few weeks.
