Councilmen celebrate groundbreaking of 12th Street project
– Four Paso Robles City Councilmen recently celebrated the groundbreaking of the new 12th street improvement project.
The 12th Street project is funded from the city’s Supplemental Sales Tax, with added funds from two State of California grants: Proposition 84 ($1,150,000), and a rubberized asphalt grant ($7,800). The project also includes upgrade of an old sewer main. Sewer funds will pay for this portion of the project.
Features of the 12th Street project include:
- new storm drain (36-inch diameter) from Spring to Olive
- new sewer from Vine to Fresno
- accessible curb ramps at 16 locations
- surface repaving from Spring to Fresno
- reconstruction and installation of missing sidewalks and repair of curbs and gutters
- drainage swales to filter storm water runoff
- reconstruction of cross-gutters at Fresno, Townhouse Terrace, Chestnut, and Olive
- basins to control debris and sediment.
The city also has other new road improvement projects underway:
- Jackson – Shannon Hill to Union
- Walnut – Creston to Union
- Shannon Hill – Creston to Walnut.
Repair of Jackson, Walnut and Shannon Hill is funded with the City’s Supplemental Sales Tax and a state rubberized asphalt grant ($25,600). The project scope is as follows:
- new cross-gutter at Shannon Hill/Walnut
- dig-out repairs at localized areas
- grinding out surface layer and repaving with new asphalt.
Mayor Steve Martin said, “I and the entire city council are very pleased with the progress being made with these projects. Citizens can be justly proud of their support to keep our streets in good repair. We have a long way to go, but we have already made significant progress. Thanks, Paso Robles, for being such a great city and community.”
