Council renews Business Improvement District assessment
The two percent hotel lodging room tax funds are used for tourism marketing
– At Tuesday night’s Paso Robles City Council meeting, the council approved the renewal of a two percent assessment, (an elected tax on businesses) paid for by the local tourism and lodging businesses, that will continue to be used to promote tourism here in Paso Robles.
The Tourism and Lodging Promotions Business Improvement District, or BID, has a two percent “tax” that is levied on an annual basis and has been renewed every year since 2009. The BID funds the Travel Paso Robles Alliance.
In January 2015, a shortened five-month extension was implemented to align the alliance’s fiscal year with the city’s fiscal year of July 1 through June 30. At Tuesday’s meetings, no vocal or written protests were made, so the assessment was renewed for another five month long period.
