–At the most recent Paso Robles City Council meeting, the council adopted a new landscape ordinance tightening restrictions on water consuming landscapes in new construction.

The new restrictions, designed to comply with state turf reduction ordinances, will ban grass from front yards on all new residential construction, however, according to Paso Robles Community Development Director Warren Frace, the ordinance will be soon amended to allow for landscaping that can include front lawns, as long as they are not more than 25-percent of the total landscaping space of the property.

The restrictions will comply with a state law that says that no more than 25-percent of the landscaping space available can be turf. The new ordinance will take effect at the beginning of the new year.
