Council votes to rename Oak Creek Park to Paso Robles Veterans Park
Sent by Leo Castillo, VFW Post Commander 10965,
– In honor of veterans who have served the nation and shaped the community, the Paso Robles City Council voted on March 18, 2025, to rename Oak Creek Park to Paso Robles Veterans Park. This decision coincides with the 125th anniversary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and recognizes the lasting impact of veterans in the area. The change follows a request from Post 10965 VFW to commemorate veterans on this significant anniversary.
For more than 70 years, veterans have been an integral part of Paso Robles, building their lives, raising families, and contributing to the fabric of our city. They are our neighbors, business owners, first responders, educators, and civic leaders. They work here, play here, and call Paso Robles home. Their children attend our schools, and their dedication to service continues beyond their time in uniform, strengthening our community in immeasurable ways.
The renaming of Paso Robles Veterans Park is a significant moment for the city, as it is the only designated veterans park in the Paso Robles area. This park will serve as a lasting tribute to the men and women who have worn the uniform of our Armed Forces, providing a space for reflection, community gatherings, and appreciation for those who have served.
“Paso Robles has a proud history of military service, and our veterans have played a key role in shaping our city’s identity,” said Leo Castillo post commander of the VFW in Paso Robles.“This renaming is a way to honor their sacrifices and ensure that their contributions are never forgotten.”
The VFW’s 125th anniversary marks more than a century of advocacy and support for veterans and their families. Naming Paso Robles Veterans Park in recognition of this milestone is a fitting tribute to the spirit of service and camaraderie that defines both the VFW and the veteran community in Paso Robles.
As we look to the future, Paso Robles Veterans Park will stand as a symbol of gratitude, remembrance, and unity, reinforcing the deep bond between our city and those who have served in defense of our nation.
