County board to consider submitting resolutions in support of groundwater basin boundary modification

–On June 19, the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors will consider submitting resolutions in support of the Salinas Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency’s (SVBGSA) Basin Boundary Modification request (BBMR) for the Paso Robles Groundwater Basin to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR).

The meeting will be held June 19, 2at 9 a.m. at the County Government Center – Board of Supervisors Chambers, located at 1055 Monterey Street, in San Luis Obispo.

On April 12, the Board of Directors of the joint powers authority that is the SVBGSA took action deciding to explore a jurisdictional basin modification which would adjust the boundary between Monterey County’s Upper Valley Aquifer and the Paso Robles Area subbasins to coincide with the Monterey/San Luis Obispo County Line. The basin boundary modification is proposed to simplify and enhance groundwater management and allow for more efficient sustainability planning than the existing basin boundary defined by DWR.

The agenda for the meeting is available at: www.slocounty.ca.gov.
