County Grand Jury releases report on California Men’s Colony
The California Men’s Colony.
–The Grand Jury has released the following report: “Inspection Report for California Men’s Colony.”
The Grand Jury inspected the California Men’s Colony over a two-day period, including both the East facility and the West facility.
The East facility is a higher security prison, where inmates are locked in cells and generally controlled most of the day. The West facility houses inmates requiring less security and provides them with added freedoms.
The Grand Jury was concerned with deficiencies in the fire and safety standards in the factories in the East facility. Incentives for prisoners to participate in programming classes were considered adequate.
