County launches new emergency alert system

Mass notification system designed to provide residents with critical information

    – San Luis Obispo County, in partnership with the seven cities within the county, has launched AlertSLO, a new mass notification system designed to provide residents with critical information about emergencies and community events.

Residents can register at AlertSLO.org to receive alerts tailored to their needs, including notifications about severe weather, road closures, large power outages, 911 outages, and public health emergencies. The system also allows users to opt in for alerts related to multiple locations, such as their workplace or areas where family and friends live. Alerts can be sent via text message, email, pager, or voice call.

“Clear, timely communication is essential to keeping our communities safe and informed,” said County Emergency Services Manager Scott Jalbert. “With AlertSLO, we can quickly notify residents about important events like highway closures, weather warnings, or large planned power outages, allowing them to take necessary precautions.”

The service is free to use, and residents are encouraged to sign up to ensure they receive important updates.

For more information or assistance, contact the San Luis Obispo County Office of Emergency Services at (805) 781-5678.
