County seeking volunteers for emergency medical care committee
– The County of San Luis Obispo Public Health Department is seeking volunteers to serve on the Emergency Medical Care Committee for the 2026–2030 term.
“The strength of our emergency medical system depends on the collaboration and dedication of our community,” said Dr. Penny Borenstein, County Health Officer. “Volunteers on this committee play a direct role in ensuring that high-quality prehospital care is available when it matters most.”
The committee serves as an advisory body to strengthen the County’s emergency medical services system. Members represent various parts of the emergency response network, including healthcare, public safety, and patient advocacy.
The County is seeking representatives in three categories: emergency medicine physicians, mobile intensive care nurses and patients and consumers.
“We’re looking for community members who are passionate about making a difference in emergency response and want to give back to the community,” said County Emergency Medical Services Director Ryan Rosander. “The EMCC provides valuable insight and guidance that helps improve outcomes for patients across San Luis Obispo County.”
The committee meets quarterly and advises the County on policies, standards, and practices related to emergency medical care. Members contribute professional knowledge and community perspectives to help maintain a coordinated and effective system.
Community members interested in serving on the committee are encouraged to email a resume and letter of interest to publichealth.contact@co.slo.ca.us
by Dec. 19.
