County tax collector intends to waive penalties and interest for late payments due to COVID-19

COVID-19 SLO County

–The San Luis Obispo County Tax Collector announced the following information for taxpayers related to payment of Property Taxes during the COVID-19 emergency:

While Property Taxes provide funding for vital services delivered to the public during this time by the County, Cities, Schools, and Special Districts, the Tax Collector is committed to working with taxpayers to ease the impacts of their tax obligations to the greatest extent permitted by law.

Claims for waiver of penalty and interest must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Assistance with the claims process is available to taxpayers Monday through Friday, 8-5 p.m. at (805) 781-5831 or by online request at

The Tax Collector’s office is currently closed for counter services but encourages taxpayers to make property tax payments by internet at, US Mail at 1055 Monterey Street Room D-290, San Luis Obispo, CA 93408, or by phone at (805) 781-5831.
