County’s unemployment rate falls to 6 percent

EDD-unemploymentThe unemployment rate in San Luis Obispo County fell to 6 percent in November, according to a report from the California Employment Development Department.

That’s the lowest rate for November since 2007, when the jobless rate was 4.4 percent. It beat the state average or 8.3 percent and the national average of 6.6 percent.  It’s one of the lowest  rates in the state, coming in fifth place among California counties.

This November marked almost three years of falling unemployment. The high for November came in 2010 when the rate was 9.8 percent.

Last month, 137,800 people were reported working in San Luis Obispo County out of a job pool of 146,500.
