Create Día de los Muertos shrines at the ‘Make It @ Your Library’ series

–The Paso Robles City Library invites the public to create a miniature Day of the Dead shrine on Sat, Oct 7, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The shrines will feature a sugar skull drawing, beads and sequins to represent flowers, and a heart (el Corazón) to symbolize love for the deceased. Participants are welcome to bring any other small items, no bigger than 1-inch high.

Day of the Dead or Día de los Muertos, is a celebration in which family and friends gather to remember those who have passed away and to help support their spiritual journey by creating altars that include possessions and photos of loved ones, some favorite foods, along with symbolic sugar skulls and marigolds.

Register online beginning Mon, Sept 18. Space is limited. Family groups are welcome, however, due to the nature of the tools and materials used, children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The Paso Robles City Library is located at 1000 Spring Street and is open Mon–Fri 10 a.m.–8 p.m. and Sat 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more information on library programs and events, call (805) 237-3870 or visit the library website.
