Crews contain fire in Salinas Riverbed Friday
Officials report fire started near Highway 101
– Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to a vegetation fire at approximately 1:40 p.m. on Friday, June 27, in the area of Highway 101 and 46 East within the Salinas Riverbed.
The first arriving unit reported a fire burning about one-quarter acre. Crews contained the fire at approximately one-half acre.
Three fire engines and two chief officers from Paso Robles responded. Under the city’s automatic aid agreement, three additional fire engines, one bulldozer, two hand crews, one battalion chief, and one air attack plane from Cal Fire and nearby communities also responded. In total, 60 firefighters contained the fire within two hours.
Paso Robles Police Department assisted with traffic and lane closures.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
