Crews rescue kayaker stranded offshore near Cambria

Paddleboard used in joint agency effort to reach kayaker

    – Crews rescued a kayaker stranded on rocks approximately 100 feet offshore in Cambria late Saturday morning.

At 11:11 a.m. on June 28, Cal Fire San Luis Obispo Unit Engine 3466 and San Luis Obispo County Fire Engine 16 assisted Cambria Fire Department’s ME5792 in the water rescue. The kayaker had capsized and become stranded on the rocks.

Responders used a paddleboard to safely bring the individual to shore. No injuries were reported.

Officials said coordinated efforts between agencies contributed to the quick and safe outcome.
