–On Saturday, the Paso Robles High School Cross Country teams finished their season off strong by competing against the best teams and individual runners in California at the State Meet at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Concluding a great month of performances that include winning the SLO County Meet, the Mountain League, and the CIF Central Section Division 1 Championship, the PRHS boys team placed 9th out of 22 teams in Division 1 at the State Meet. They ran their fastest team time of the year in the race with 1:20:02.

In California, more than 1,000 high schools participate in cross country and the boys had one of the top 20 performances in the state.

Individually, Damian Gavilan placed 13th (15:23), Pablo Cortes 25th (15:36), Steven Scruggs 32nd (15:44), Jason Scruggs 96th (16:22), Michael Hernandez 156th (16:58), Caelan Casa 182nd (17:51), and Ethan Short 184th (18:17).

We had two girls run as individuals at the State Meet, with Madie Loff running her fastest time of the season today. Loff placed 90th (19:29) and Charlotte Castelli placed 147th (20:21) out of 203 total athletes competing in Division II. The two girls gained valuable experience for future seasons competing at the highest level of competition in the state.
