Expanded programs serve first-time, adult, and lifelong learners

    – Cuesta College is entering the Spring 2026 semester with increased enrollment, continued investment in local students, and expanded programming across its campuses.

Enrollment increased at both the San Luis Obispo and North County campuses compared with Spring 2025, reflecting continued demand for accessible higher education throughout San Luis Obispo County.

For Paso Robles native Jailyn Campos, the spring semester marks continued progress toward her academic goals. Campos chose the college to pursue her education close to home while managing costs.

Through the Cuesta Promise program, Campos’ enrollment fees were covered, allowing her to focus on coursework while working toward transferring to California Polytechnic State University.

The Cuesta Promise covers enrollment fees for eligible local students during their first two years of college. The program was expanded to include summer tuition coverage beginning in Summer 2025, supporting year-round enrollment and continued academic progress.

Local students eligible for the Cuesta Promise who plan to attend the college in Summer or Fall 2026 must submit their admissions application by June 1 for summer enrollment or by Aug. 1 for fall enrollment. Additional scholarship support is available, and incoming and current students are encouraged to complete the scholarship application by March 2, 2026.

In addition to enrollment growth, the college continues to expand programs serving learners of all ages, including first-time college students, adult learners, and lifelong learners. Recent additions include new community programs at the North County Campus and expanded free Emeritus Program classes in Los Osos.

The college also continues to align instruction with regional workforce needs, particularly in healthcare, skilled trades, and emerging technologies. Accelerated pathways, short-term training options, and community partnerships are designed to prepare students for in-demand careers across the Central Coast.

“Our faculty and staff are deeply committed to meeting students where they are and responding to the needs of our region,” said Dean of Instruction Dr. Aubrey Priest. “These programs are designed to support student success while directly benefiting the communities we serve.”

Students may still enroll in Spring 2026 classes through Feb. 1 with instructor approval. Short-term classes are also available for students seeking to begin coursework or develop new skills.

More information about enrollment, short-term classes, and the Cuesta Promise is available at cuesta.edu.
