–Cuesta College recently received an energy incentive check in the amount of $40,888 from PG&E for energy savings projects completed at the college in association with Proposition 39. This is the second year Cuesta College has completed projects under Prop 39 guidelines and received energy incentive funding.

This year’s Prop 39 projects included installing a new chiller on the North County Campus in Paso Robles, retrofitting exterior light fixtures on both the San Luis Obispo and North County campuses, and retrofitting light fixtures in the SLO Campus gym. The projects were estimated to cost the district $129K. The college received the $40,888 rebate check on Oct. 7 and will repay the district’s general fund the remaining cost over the next two years. The estimated energy savings to the district over the life of the fixtures is more than $855.000.

Last year, the college installed LED lights throughout the campuses, resulting in an estimated annual energy savings of $22,000, an estimated energy savings over the life of the fixtures of $440,000 and an estimated net energy savings to the District of $406,000.
