Cuesta College

The application for Cuesta College scholarships, including the Promise, opens January 1, 2015. The deadline to apply for the college’s general scholarships is March 2, 2015; the deadline to apply for the Promise is August 3, 2015. The Cuesta College scholarship application is online and can be found here: https://cuesta.academicworks.com/users/sign_in

The Cuesta Scholarship program is open to all incoming and continuing Cuesta College students with a GPA above 2.0. The program rewards and assists students who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership skills, and success in making progress toward a degree or certificate at Cuesta College. Last year, more than 400 scholarships were awarded through this program, each one with different donor criteria and different award amounts. In 2014, nearly $262,000 in scholarship funds was distributed to 279 students. On average, recipients received $582. The Promise Scholarship program is open to all recent San Luis Obispo County high school graduates, including those who receive their GED or are home-schooled, who attend Cuesta College immediately following their completion of high school. The program is removing financial barriers by paying all student fees an entire year (consecutive fall and spring semesters). Whether a student is part or full-time, the Promise will pay for the following costs: enrollment fees, health fee, Associated Students of Cuesta College ID card, student fee, Student Center fee and course materials fees that are included in the course description on Class Finder. The Promise launched in the fall of 2014 and currently has paid $186,000 in fees. Nearly 650 students are enrolled in the program, which will save a student an average of $1,400 in fees.
