Curtis Dean Mortenson dies at 56

‏–Curtis Dean Mortenson, age 56, from Atascadero, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 in Palo Alto, following a short battle with Leukemia. Curtis was surrounded by his family during his final moments.

‏Curtis was born in Oxnard, to Rodney and Lois (Stevens) Mortenson on Oct. 9, 1959. Curtis married his best friend and love of his life, Tina (Schramm) Mortenson in Mammoth Lakes, on Jan. 10, 1983. Curtis and Tina moved to the Central Coast in 1983 from Southern California. Curtis owned and operated Turn-Key Real Estate Property Management. He was an active member with Paso Robles Rotary Club and a member of the Paso Robles Pickleball Club.

‏Curtis loved the life he lived and lived the life he loved, and he loved the outdoors; hiking, biking, backpacking, camping, motor homing, etc. His favorite place was the Sierra Nevadas where he created countless memories in Mammoth Lakes and Yosemite, summited Mt. Whitney on several occasions and hiked the John Muir Trail. In 2015, Curtis and Tina took a trip of a lifetime to South America, visiting Brazil, Peru and Argentina.

‏He will be terribly missed by all who knew him. He was a very kind, generous and loving father, husband and friend. Curtis is survived by his wife Tina, son Matt Mortenson (Arielle), daughter Nikki Chatham (Matthew), two step-grandchildren Valen and Eden and two unborn grandchildren, Peanut and Kiwi, of Templeton, CA. He is also survived by his brother Herb Mortenson (Vicky) of Santa Paula, CA and his sisters, Charlene Warinner (Lon) of Santa Paula, CA and Samantha Tucker (John) of Camarillo, CA.
